Coldplay’s latest album release, ‘Moon Music,’ features a special edition vinyl made from recycled plastic waste in a partnership with The Ocean Cleanup, highlighting their commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation.
Coldplay’s upcoming album, “Moon Music,” will be released on October 4, 2024. The album’s special edition vinyl will be made from recycled plastic waste. This initiative is a collaboration between Coldplay and The Ocean Cleanup, a Dutch non-profit organization dedicated to removing plastic from oceans and rivers.
The vinyl records will consist of 70% plastic collected from the Rio Las Vacas in Guatemala through The Ocean Cleanup’s Interceptor 006 system, deployed in 2023. The remaining 30% will be recycled plastic bottles. Coldplay is also financially supporting The Ocean Cleanup’s efforts, including sponsoring an interceptor in Malaysia.
Boyan Slat, founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, praised the partnership, highlighting the environmental benefits of this initiative. Coldplay has previously taken steps to reduce their environmental impact, including efforts during their “Music of the Spheres” tour.
